What Is the Virtual Volunteer Vending Machine?
The Virtual Volunteer Vending Machine is a 48–72 locker system that connects neighbors experiencing homelessness with real volunteers, from anywhere in the world, in real time.
Here's how it works: a neighbor in need walks up to the machine and presses a button for help. That button calls a volunteer, maybe someone sitting at home across the country. The volunteer answers: "Hey friend, how can I help?" The neighbor might say they need socks, underwear, first aid supplies, dog food, or deodorant. With one tap on their phone, the volunteer dispenses the items directly from the machine while staying on the call, so the neighbor feels seen and heard, not just served.
After 5 PM, very few services remain open. In some parts of the cities we serve, the nearest shower or shelter can be a 4–5 hour walk away. The BeSeen Machine exists for that moment. The goal is simple: give neighbors a fighting chance to make it through the night.
